The University of Abuja has introduced the study of Kiswahili, beginning from the 2022/2023 Academic Session. This is the newest foreign language to be introduced by the University after Arabic, Portuguese, Japanese, French,, etc.
The director of GST, Prof. B. R. Mohammed, who disclosed this said both first & second semester lectures will be taken virtually and concurrently.
Kiswahili is spoken by millions of people mainly in Africa including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and East Zaire. It is also spoken in some parts of Mozambique, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, and Malawi.
