The Higher Education Authority (HEA) is pleased to issue the 2026 Call under the Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships Programme.
The Government of Ireland Scholarship offers fully funded awards that includes tuition waiver and a living stipend of €10,000 for a one-year study at Diploma, Masters or PhD levels to successful candidates who have interest in eligible Irish higher education institution.

Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship Details:
The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship is managed by the Higher Education Authority (HEA), on behalf of the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.
Following a competitive process based on an annual call for proposals from individual applicants, the HEA will approve a defined number of scholarships under the scheme to successful applicants.
Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships will be awarded to high calibre students from non-EU/EEA countries to study full-time in Ireland for a period of one year.
Requirements:
In order to be eligible for a Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship, applicants must;
•Have a domiciliary of origin outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
•Apply for admission to a relevant master’s, postgraduate diploma or PhD programme offered by an eligible higher education institution as per that institution’s admission procedures.
•Have a conditional or final offer of admission to that higher education institution at the time of application and will be required to submit a copy of same.
•Prospective candidates who have previously held a GOI-IES scholarship are not eligible to apply.
Duration and Reward
Students who are successful will receive:
•A €10,000 stipend for one year’s study
•A full fee waiver of all tuition and other registration costs at the higher education institution

To apply for the Ireland International Education Scholarship,
•Potential applicants should read the call documentation carefully to ascertain whether they are eligible to apply.
•Applications must be submitted via the online portal.
•All applications require two references to be uploaded by the applicants via the online portal.
•It is recommended that candidates submit their applications well before the deadline, to avoid technical issues due to heavy server traffic on the respective day.
•Applications cannot be submitted once the deadline has passed. No alterations can be made to an application once it has been submitted.
