Applications are now open for the 2027/2028 Deutsche Welle International Journalism Traineeship for interested candidates worldwide.

The DW International Journalism Traineeship covers a range of fields and skills, such as TV-moderation, multimedia storytelling, data journalism and working with AI-tools.

Participants gets hands-on training in journalism, a monthly salary, and the technical know-how in the TV, radio and the online sector.

Deutsche Welle International Journalism Traineeship 2027/28 Details:
DW is looking for creative people, who are interested in a comprehensive, high quality journalism program with an international broadcaster and who want to help shape the journalism of the future.

The 18-month paid journalism program is considered one of the most prestigious of its kind in Germany – and beyond.

The topics are explored in seminars and workshops at DW’s editorial offices in Bonn and Berlin, along with DW’s regional bureaus across the globe.

The traineeship includes:

six months of theory and practice-oriented seminar modules in German and English
nine months of placements with various DW editorial departments in Bonn, Berlin and one of our foreign bureaus
a one-month internship elective

Eligibility Requirements for DW International Journalism Traineeship 2027/28
To be considered for the DW International Journalism Traineeship, you must:

be a native speaker of one of DW’s languages with excellent English and good German language skills, or native English speaker with good German language skills, or native German speaker with excellent English language skills
have completed university degree, college degree or apprenticeship
(especially with a background in technology/IT, science, politics, economics or law)
DW are also looking for applicants from other fields, whether you are an IT specialist, lawyer, physician, mathematician, nurse, chef, pilot, football player or referee.
have initial journalistic experience
possess a creative mind
demonstrate social media expertise
show the ability to work under deadlines and as part of a team.
