Eligibility Criteria for KAAD Scholarship

1. Scholarship Programme 1
•Must be a citizen of a developing or emerging country (Africa, Asia, Middle East, Latin America) and currently reside there.
•Hold a university degree and possess relevant professional experience.
•Planning to pursue a Master’s, PhD, post-doc, or short research stay (2-6 months) at a German university.
•Preferably Catholic or Christian denomination; applicants from other religions may be considered if proposed by Catholic partners.
•German language proficiency is required (a preparatory course may be provided).
2. Scholarship Programme 2
•Must be from a developing or emerging country (Africa, Asia, Middle East, Latin America).
•Already enrolled in a German university with at least 10 months of study remaining.
•Pursuing a Master’s, Diploma,Magister, or PhD degree.
•Should belong to a Christian denomination (exceptions apply for interfaith engagement).
•Must have basic German language skills.
3. Eastern Europe Programme
•Open to applicants from Central, Eastern & South-Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus.
•Must belong to a Catholic denomination (exceptions apply for other Christian denominations if recommended by Catholic partners).
•The applicant’s country of residence does not impact eligibility as long as other criteria are met.
