Financial Support
The MEXT Japanese Government Scholarship 2026 at APU covers major study-related costs for eligible students:
- Full tuition waiver (100% tuition reduction through APU’s Tuition Reduction Scholarship)
- Monthly stipend of 144,000 JPY to support living expenses (amount subject to change)
- Round-trip economy class airfare between your home country and APU at the start and end of the program.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the APU MEXT Scholarship 2026, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Nationality: Must hold citizenship from a country with diplomatic relations with Japan and not hold Japanese nationality.
- Age: Must be born on or after April 2, 1991.
- Academic Performance: Minimum GPA of 2.30/3.00 in the most recent academic record.
- Language Proficiency:TOEFL iBT 72+, IELTS 5.5+, or equivalent (B2 level on CEFR)Applicants without a standardized English test can submit an English Proficiency Certificate from their previous institution confirming English as the language of instruction.
- Residency Requirement: Applicants must apply from outside Japan and intend to study in Japan upon acceptance.
