NANS Seeks Clarification Over NYSC’s Delay in Disbursing ₦77,000 Allowance

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called for an inquiry into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) regarding the delayed implementation of the approved ₦77,000 monthly allowance for corps members.
Despite the Federal Government’s approval of the new allowance in July 2024, corps members reportedly received only ₦33,000 for February 2025. This contradicts the earlier assurance by the NYSC Director-General that the revised payment would take effect as promised.
NANS National Vice President for Inter-Campus Affairs, Akinbodunse Sileola Felicia, condemned the delay, labeling it as unfair, especially since other government workers have already started receiving the revised minimum wage. She urged the Federal Government to investigate the matter and ensure corps members receive their full entitlements without further postponement.
