DANGUT APPOINTS AS NEW HEAD OF NIGERIA WAEC OFFICE(DETAILS)
The West African Examinations Council has named Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut as the new Head of the Nigeria National Office, succeeding Patrick Areghan, whose tenure concludes this month. According to a statement released by WAEC and made available to The PUNCH on Monday, Dangut, who previously served as the Deputy Registrar in the HNO’s office, joined WAEC in 1998 as an Assistant Registrar II. He steadily climbed the ranks, becoming a Deputy Registrar in April 2018. During his tenure, he received commendation from the Nigeria Examinations Committee for his transparent conduct of examinations between 2000 and 2006.
His professional journey at WAEC includes roles such as Assistant Registrar/Subject Officer in the Test Development Division, WAEC, Lagos (July 1998 – January 2005); Senior Assistant Registrar/Head of Examinations Security and Deputy to the Branch Controller at the Uyo Branch Office (January 2005 – January 2008); Senior Assistant Registrar/Head of Examinations Security and Deputy to the Branch Controller at the Bauchi Branch Office (January 2008 – December 2011); Senior Assistant Registrar/Branch Controller at the Yola Branch Office (December 2011 – January 2019); and Deputy Registrar/Controller in the Post Examinations Department (January 2019 – October 2020). He also served as Deputy Registrar/Zonal Coordinator at the Ikeja Zonal Office.
Born on October 2, 1967, in Mbar District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, Dangut attended Government Secondary School, Riyom (1981 to 1983), and Government Science School, Kuru (1983 to 1986), both in Plateau State. He obtained his WASC/SC in 1986 and later pursued his Bachelor of Agriculture in Animal Production at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, graduating in 1991.
Over the past 25 years, Dangut has adeptly utilized Information and Communications Technology to enhance processes in Test Development, Test Administration, and Post Test Activities. He is also a distinguished scholar, with various educational publications in international and national journals. Additionally, he has delivered numerous keynotes and papers at international and national conferences
